Module Two is hard - whether you are doing an intensive, full-time course or a longer part-time course but working at the same time, you'll find your biggest enemy is time. The assignments you need to write are long and complex, and each one will have deadlines you have to meet. There's therefore no time to waste - and the more you know in advance about how to tackle each section of each assignment in order to meet the assessment criteria, the more time you'll have to work on the content of the assignments themselves.
This is the aim of our Module Two Preparatory Programme - to make sure that when you start your full Module Two course you hit the ground running. All the materials have been tried and tested on our Module Two candidates since the Delta Modules Scheme started in 2008, and now that we're no longer running courses, we want to use them to continue helping people. That's why we're offering them for a donation to a charity of your choice (see the final section) of only €50,00 - or a rough equivalent in your own currency. You're free to choose any charity that you like to support, whether local or international, but if you don't have any ideas we would suggest one of the following:
Water Aid The Malalala Fund Greenpeace
Save the Children Médecins Sans Frontières
However, before enrolling, please read the following information carefully and make sure you know what you will and won't get from the course.
What the programme does and doesn't provide
1. This is not a full Module Two course which can only be taken at a centre with face to face or on-line tutor contact.
2. This is a self-access course and there will be no tutor contact or feedback - but it's structured in such a way that you won't need any. Feedback and comments on common problems are built into the materials, allowing you easily to self-evaluate your understanding. If anything is not clear, you'll be able to contact Sue for explanation, but once you start your full course, you'll be able to consult the tutors there about anything that crops up.
3. The course does not cover the syllabus contents for Module Two. Most of the topics on the syllabus will have been covered in your Module One course, while the "new" bits will be included in your full course, at whichever centre you decide to take it. This course aims only to prepare you for the assignments you will need to complete during your full course, making sure you fully understand the requirements and assessment criteria for each part, and the dos and don'ts for meeting them. You'll find...
- input in the form of Powerpoint presentations and reading available on the web
- references to various Cambridge documents which discuss the assessment criteria and analyse candidate performance in past sessions. Some of these are available on the Cambridge website, but you'll also be given access to others which you'll need to consult
- examples of assignments, or extracts from assignments, written by past candidates (always used with their permission), or by Sue.
- recordings of two "LSA type" lessons (one on systems and the other on skills) taught by Sue together with documents such as the accompanying lesson plan, materials, PLE etc, exemplifying sections in the format you'll need to use for your own assignments.
- recommended reading from the web
2. After you enrol, you will have access to the materials up to December 2025. This should give you time to work on the materials...
- before you start your full course. This will give you a "head start" and will mean that during the course you don't have to waste time trying to work out what you are supposed to include in each assignment.
- during your full course. If you want to review the requirements and suggestions for each section of the assignments you'll have them all easily to hand. Page numbers from the different documents you need to consult will always be given, again saving you time.
- presuming an initial submission for the assessment session after your course. If you don't pass first time round, you'll be able to consult the course sections while you work on your referral assignment. If this should happen, and the referral is due to the result of the external assessment, we strongly recommend that (through your centre) you get a report from Cambridge on the exact reasons you were referred. That will show you exactly which sections of the programme you need to work on in order to improve.
